On December 4, 2011, we said goodbye to Pastors Matt and Amyjill Aufdenkamp who have been our youth pastors for over ten years, and we thanked them for their years of faithful service and ministry. It was a sad day, but we know that God is leading them and that His plans for them are good.
Youth group will still be happening this week and in the weeks to come. Jordan Bradford and Vickie Brooks will be working with our student leaders to organize things for the time being.
Please pray for the Aufdenkamps while they work out what God has in store for them next, and please pray for the youth group and those who will be taking over its ministry.
Joshua, Matt, and Amyjill Aufdenkamp
Matt was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was active in the country Lutheran church his parents attended. As a teenager, he attended the youth group at Dayspring Assembly of God in Bowling Green. Having played piano since he was 5 years old, it was natural for Matt to play piano in church. Even from a young age he knew God was calling him into the ministry. After high school graduation, Matt headed to Springfield, Missouri to attend Central Bible College for preparation to serve in the calling God placed on his life. For medical reasons, Matt needed to leave school and return home.
Amyjill was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. As the oldest girl of thirteen children, Amyjill learned early on in the life the importance of cooperation, compassion, and leadership. She attended Trinity Lutheran School for nine years and attended a Toledo public high school. After graduation, Amyjill pursued her musical passion and obtained a degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University. While at BGSU she was invited to be involved in Chi Alpha Campus Ministry and to attend Dayspring Assembly of God. It was through the faithful witnessing of many people that Amyjill left the worldly lifestyle and committed her life to Christ.
We met at Dayspring Assembly of God in Ohio and both worked with the youth ministry. Matt played keyboard and Amyjill was a youth sponsor. We both taught discipleship. While chaperoning the youth group at Youth Convention in spring of 1997, we heard God call us to serve in ministry.
In October 1997, we were married and have been on an adventure ever since to grow, stretch, and serve where God leads. A few short months after marriage we moved to Springfield, Missouri so Matt could finish his schooling at Central Bible College. After only a year in the south we were excited to find out we were having a baby and moved to where Amyjill's family had relocated, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Our amazing son, Joshua, was born in 1999.
At that time, we began working with the youth group at Fond du Lac Assembly of God and have been ever since! We have seen amazing things happen in the lives of the young people in Fond du Lac. We continue to see God move in this community and are expecting greater things to come!
We both completed certification classes with the Assembly of God Global University and received certification with the Assemblies of God in June 2003.
